How does Findster Home work?
The Findster Home ecosystem consists of a Basestation, to be placed within your home, and up to 3 Pet Modules, attached to each pet’s collar.
The pet’s location and activity can be accessed from anywhere in the world using the Findster App on your phone, as long as you have an Internet connection! The range between the Basestation and the Pet modules is up to 6 mi (~10 km). Our MAZE technology eliminates the need for a cellular connection to obtain the GPS coordinates, which is why there are no monthly fees!
How it works
Here's how the standard Findster Home ecosystem works:
- The Pet module has GPS, which will acquire a position by communicating with GPS satellites.
- The Pet module sends its coordinates to the Basestation via RF, using our proprietary MAZE protocol - an innovative technology exclusively developed by Findster, which allows us to eliminate the need for a cellular connection to obtain the GPS coordinates (hence no monthly fees!). MAZE allows the modules to communicate within an obtainable range of up to 6 miles (10 kilometers) depending on the surrounding environment.
- The Basestation will send the Pet's position to a cloud server, making possible for up to 5 accounts to track the same pet in real time as long as they're connected to the internet (ex.: from work), either using Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Type of communication / estimated range
Here's how the system communicates and the distances you should keep between the devices:
- Smartphone ↔️ Basestation: communication via internet.
- Basestation ↔️ Pet: communication via RF technology (using our proprietary MAZE protocol), with an estimated range up to 6 miles (10 kilometers). However, please note that the surrounding environment can influence the range.
